Transitional Luxury Laundry & Mudroom Reveal

Absolutely one of our FAVORITE spaces to date is this stunning mudroom and laundry space we helped design for our Atlanta clients. This narrow porch conversion needed some seriously functional storage, sink, and washer/dryer.

This galley style cabinetry provides laundry on the left and functional mudroom storage on the right. Since the cabinetry will set the tone for this space, we opted to go a little more elegant and traditional than your standard shaker door. This beaded shaker with edge detailing provides an upgraded look while adding interest and elegant foundation for this laundry room.

We added tall vertical storage for vacuums, brooms, and cleaning supplies. We customized the depth to provide enough storage while also keeping the room feeling spacious and not too cramped. Utilizing all the space, shoe cubbies are added below the beautiful upholstered bench.

Can we talk about the contrast between the cabinets and the beautiful slate floors? The texture from the floors as a slight rustic edge to the room while the herringbone pattern creates a luxury vibe. Slate is very durable and stands up to wet pups and muddy shoes.

On the opposite side of the room is for laundry. We fit the washer and dryer neatly into built-in cubbies while adding a honed granite top. Granite is extremely durable and perfect for the laundry room! Luckily, it does not stain, scratch, or etch! It’s also a more affordable option when it comes to stone countertops.

But – can we talk about the fluted sink?? I am in love with this sink. We are actually about to use something similar in another client’s kitchen and I’m so excited. This sink is so beautiful and it breaks up the black and taupe and ties in the modern marble backsplash. The fluted detail adds so much interest. It’s deep and functional - perfect for the client’s flower arranging hobby!

An extra special moment for this sink. Ugh. Perfection.

Elegant polished nickel hardware adds a hint of shine to the cabinetry and contrast well with the natural stone backsplash and countertops.

We are SO happy with how this space came together. Our clients are in love and use this space on an everyday basis.

As a design studio, we don’t ever just focus on making your space pretty. We have experience and knowledge of finishes and materials and how they can work with your life. Our goal at Elkins Interiors is to always make sure function is at the top of mind when we create your space!
